This is the last of the three airplanes flown in the CBS and NBC series Sky King, which ran 72 episodes from 1951 to 1959 starring Kirby Grant and Gloria Winters and made the Cessna 310 Songbird one of the most recognizable aircraft in television history. It has since won EAA Oshkosh 2002 Grand Champion Contemporary, the 2009 Contemporary Preservation Award, and Sun 'n Fun Contemporary Outstanding in Type in both 2003 and 2022. 3,913.6 hours total time, with complete original logbooks from new and full AD compliance records on file. Meticulously restored in 2001 — airframe by Hillside Aviation, avionics by Direct Avionics — including a Cessna 310-R center stack instrument panel, glare shield, Y-yoke, control wheels and torque tubes, a Cleveland wheel and brake conversion under STC, a new one-piece windshield and new cabin side windows, landing gear completely overhauled, re-rigged and magnafluxed, replacement Hartwig tip fuel cells and new aux tanks, all firewall-forward fuel, oil and drain hoses replaced with firesleeve teflon, and new engine mounts in all four positions. Engines are Continental IO-470-D of 260 hp a side, factory remanufactured in June 2001 and both fully IRAN'd in June 2021 at Poplar Grove Airmotive — new camshaft, new rings, repaired cylinders, magnetos and a test-cell run — showing 761.0 hours since overhaul against a 1,500-hour recommended TBO. Last compressions were 75, 72, 75, 78, 77 and 77 on the left and 74, 77, 75, 77, 79 and 77 on the right, all over 80. The right engine was further tuned at Poplar Grove in November 2025 with the fuel divider, servo and pump overhauled and new CHT and oil gauges and alternator regulator. Woodward governors were overhauled on both engines in July 2021, alongside new vacuum pumps, Lord mounts and hoses. Propellers were installed in 2001 under Hartzell STC SA00799CH and fully overhauled in April 2021 by Tiffin Aire, showing 48.5 hours since. Panel: Garmin GMX200 MFD, Garmin/Apollo GX60 GPS/comm, Garmin SL30 nav/comm, S-TEC 50 two-axis autopilot with altitude hold, Apollo SL70 Mode C transponder with blind encoder, Apollo SL15M audio panel, uAvionix tailBeacon for ADS-B Out, Electronics International EGTs, Davtron M800 chronometer and M655, and overhauled Weston altimeter, VSI and directional gyro.
